Afrika Bambaataa!

I like peeping styles around the world. It’s interesting to see what other folks around the globe are rockin and what fashions they deem worthy of placing on their bodies. I have traveled via web to Mexico & Japan so far and now I find myself amazed with the threads over in Africa.

A beautiful country with beautiful people and incredible style. Sifting thru pictures & online blogs of this region opened my eyes a little wider to the beauty that lies across the world. We live in a very small speck. An important speck to say the least, but very small indeed.

The streets of Africa got rhythm, soul, beauty, & freshness.

The definition of swag. That flannel skirt, belt, hair, & earrings ooze freshness on so many levels.

Jelly’s, check.

Pink Stockings, check.

Off The Shoulder Sweater, check.

Superfly Urkel Glasses with A Slick Do’, double check.

In Love.

Not a fan of camo. Never really was. Not in baby gear, not in adult gear, not in any gear. Camo should be left for the Marines. However, after stumbling across this beauty I have slightly changed my mind. Ever so slightly. Pair it with wedges & red fishnet stockings and by no means are you making a subtle fashion statement. A clusterfuck of greatness is what I call this. And yes, I would wear it, coke clutch and all even if I am more of a Pepsi girl.

This picture is beautiful to me on so many levels. Contrast, Color, Simple, Elegant. I’ll take it.

When I was little my mother use to dress me in one piece suits that can only be described as an itchy, polyester hell. Maybe that’s why I constantly stray away from one piece anything when it comes to attire. Aside from not being a fan of one pieces for obvious bathroom-related reasons, this jumper is flow-y & devine in a circus-y kind of way. Paired with those gold sandals, I would make any necessary sacrifices just to rock this get-up.

These pants are too legit to quit on so many different levels. It’s A Different World from where she comes from… from where she comes FROM! Did I forget to mention her shoes… Speaking of which, check out these beauties …

Charlie Chaplin meets Lady Gaga in these cobblers. Would I ever wear them? No. Would I buy them just to say I have them? Like a dumb ass, probably.

With his paisley greenish blue shirt, red beanie, and golf pants, you’re almost forced to ignore the tightness on his feet.

Green pants, joker jacket, topped with a Prince of Zamunda hat exudes flavor. Homegirl in the back recognizes game, as should you.

Maybe this is the definition of hipster in Africa. Maybe this is the definition of Hip Hop in Africa. Maybe this is the definition of Swag in Africa. Whatever it defines anyone who can rock a Beetlejuice Tie with some aviator shades is fine by my book. hashtagupyourgame.

This is the ‘Raphael Saadiq’ of Africa. Oakland has made it’s mark in the Motherland. Bow ties, green belts, yellow pants. You should be proud to wear this.

And just to show that some people are on the shallow end of the ‘fashion-pool’ I have included this messy number. Colored sprinkles in this scheme belong on cupcakes, not sweaters. This male version of Lauryn Hill must have missed the memo.
