Although it seems like a lifetime ago, Ana Tijoux & Los Rakas at the Pagoda was definitely a show we couldn’t pass up. We had big plans that weekend and this show was a sure stop.
The night was filled with good music, dope DJ’s, sexy chicks, pregnant chicks, dank aroma, long lines at the bar, good views of the performers, & plenty of room for everyone. I can never express in enough words my appreciation of the level of intimacy one can have with a performer at The Pagoda.
Turbo – Mex was live. Los Rakas were sick & Ana Tijoux – although she was a little under the weather – you would not have been able to tell by the dope performance she put on. Had the crowd chanting ‘OTRA’ but instead her DJ got on and killed that shit.
Last time we seen Tijoux was at Outside Lands 2011 (another lifetime ago) with a huge crowd so our view was bird’s eye at best. The same for Los Rakas. Couldn’t really enjoy it cause we were busy twerkin that booth at the Puerto Rican Festival. This time to have them together in a place where we could both enjoy it & dance & drink & raise our hands & drink was exhilarating to say the least.
Ana Tijoux’s flavor is undeniable. Hailing from Chile of European descent her voice is powerful and her message profound. Putting it down for the Hispanic females around the globe.
Los Rakas, from Panama by way of the Biggity Biggity O’, are coming up for sure. Heard about these dudes from a blog a few years back & instantly became a fan of ‘Yo Si Soy’. Be careful though cause that shit will have you singing – or rapping – ‘yo si soy’ for days.
Next time they are in your city and you do not go, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Show was over about 1 AM & we were on our way out to LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
